This 3-5year-old, 20lb neutered mix had been living with his owner in her car in the Texas heat.
They had been displaced from her home and although she had a full-time job, couldn’t afford housing and wouldn’t part with him. They stayed together in the Texas heat until she died apparently due to the excessive Texas heat in July. She was found in her car with him on her lap. His Good Samaritan Joanne rescued him from a local animal shelter where he was scheduled to be euthanized because he would not let them touch his face. Joanne was told she could have him if she wanted him. Local animal rescue groups are full and can’t take him.
Affenpinscher Rescue of America is posting his story on our website, Facebook and other Facebook sites to help find the right home for him.
Joanne says in spite of all he has been through, he is a happy dog who is surprisingly house, and crate trained, walks on a leash, dog friendly, ignores her cat and good with her neighbor’s kids although they are always supervised. He has shown no aggression to people, for food or toys. She has taken him shopping in dog friendly stores. He is heartworm negative and up to date on vaccinations. He can’t live with Joanne as she has multiple larger dogs. Two are not dog friendly. She doesn’t want the little one (she has not named him) to be hurt. Joanne believes he will do best with a seasoned dog owner/family with a fenced yard and will set and enforce boundaries. He is a wonderful dog, and she would love to keep him but there is a better home environment for him. He is in the Argyle, TX area.
