Chewie Update
Chewie stayed with his Virginia rescue group’s foster family through the Thanksgiving holiday weekend at their request. If you know Affenpinschers, then you know that he stole their hearts and they want him to be a part of their family. We are very happy for him and for his new family! Affenpinscher Rescue of America very much appreciates everyone who contacted us about the possibility of either fostering or adopting him. Thank you!
Chewie is an 11 year old Affen who was surrendered to a rescue group in Williamsburg Virginia by an owner who could no longer afford to take care of him. The owner had lost their house and Chewie was diagnosed in September with diabetes. The owner tried to keep taking care of him but could not and just recently released him to the rescue group. She was afraid to take him to a shelter for fear that they would not think he was adoptable due to his age and diabetes. His foster family with the rescue group says he is energetic, playful, gets along with other dogs and cats in the house, but is a tad shy around men but will warm up to them. Chewie is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and heartworm negative.
